Yes, this is about a week and a half late, but I just wanted to say Happy New Year! ^_^
Every year we all come up with New Years resolutions, which we usually don't keep. Scanning over my Pinterest, I came upon some tips to help KEEP your resolutions for the entire year(not just two months).
T.M. Gaouette uses losing weight as an example, but many of you who are reading this are teenagers and trying to lose weight isn't always the best idea. Instead, just attempt a healthy active lifestyle and you will see changes! :)- Be realistic! Don’t just list resolutions like they’re a wish list. Be realistic about what you can achieve.
- Narrow it down. Don’t select lots of things. It would make more sense to pick one thing and focus on that. So determine what’s most important to you.
- Be honest with yourself. Is it really something that you can achieve within the boundaries of your life, with your other commitments and in your current environment? In the case of losing weight, you can achieve it in any environment, but you need to schedule your day so you can fit it into your life.
- Put a plan together. How are you going to achieve your resolution? Create a step-by-step plan that takes you from one stage to another in your resolution. So if you want to lose weight, decide how you’re going to change your diet and how you’re going to exercise, and then set small goals of weight loss that you can easily achieve.
- Set yourself up with the tools that you need. For losing weight, set up a meal plan and put together an exercise regimen.
- Make it fun. When it comes to losing weight, the idea of getting up to do sit-ups can be daunting, so consider joining a fun exercise, dance or martial arts class. This will take your mind off the losing weight part of the process!
- Invite others to join your cause. Do you have a friend or family member who would be interested in sharing your resolution? Having someone else on the journey with you will be both encouraging and motivating.
- Don’t set yourself up to fail. You should schedule a time frame in which you can accomplish your goal. Don’t push yourself into too small a period of time.
- Better your life. If you begin to feel the benefits of your resolution, and it improves your life, then you will be encouraged to continue with it. Once you reach your weight goal, you no longer have to lose weight, but your diet plan and exercise regimen should remain a part of your life because it’s always good to be healthy and fit.
- Glorify God in whatever you choose to do. It will strengthen your faith and your walk with Christ if you make Him a part of your resolution. So determine how your walk with Christ will be improved by your resolution. With regard to losing weight, remember 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 10:31. Both tell us that our body is important, so it’s essential for us to take care of it.
