D.C.: Day Six

This morning a pro-marriage event was happening in the mall right in front of the Capitol! You should have heard them chanting, "One man, one woman!" Over and over as loud as they could. To overhear the speakers proclaiming God's love and his agenda, was just extremely encouraging! Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee and many more famous people were presenting good news. Unfortunately, we had Aaron's ceremony and couldn't see them march through DC. All this time, I've assumed that Christians are in the minority. I have heard more "God bless Americas" and prayers here in DC then at home.

Aaron had many pictures taken with the gold medalists in front of the capital by the reflective pool.

Parking is a huge issue here in DC.. God provided us a space. :)

Aaron's gold medal congressional ceremony was in the Canon building. My family went through some underground tunnels and made our way there in air conditioning. Yeah, we are cool.

Aaron went and checked in and our family fought our way into the room to get decent seats. If you've ever watched Americas Got Talent, you'll know the MC, Nick Canon. He was there. Also, a couple CBS news reporters did the announcements.

Our congressman, Ron Kind, presented Aaron with his award! They became best buds at his congressional dinner.

Feeling relieved to be finished with the ceremony, us Coons traveled back to the car with our gold medalist brother.

Mom found some famous deli in our "tourist hand guide" and so we ventured there. It was, um, different. But hey, expensive sammiches with a good view out the window ain't to bad.

Providing tickets for the gold medalists and their families, we were able to attend a Nationals Baseball Game! Even though I don't understand it all, we really enjoyed the game. Plus, I got Dip n Dots! Great way to end our last day in DC.
